How will this change impact EuroBonus?

EuroBonus will remain SAS’ loyalty program and the current rules and regulations for traveling on SAS will remain largely the same. Your membership, including your level in the program and points earned, will not be affected. In general, as a EuroBonus member, you’ll still enjoy the same benefits and point earnings based on your membership level when you fly on a Star Alliance airline until 31 August 2024. And from 1 September 2024, you’ll enjoy similar benefits with most SkyTeam airlines.

Below is the latest information about how the move will impact EuroBonus members. We look forward to sharing more details as our journey progresses, with a view to creating a smooth transition to a new alliance with fresh, exciting travel opportunities for our members.

Note: EuroBonus members might encounter issues when adding their EuroBonus number online to their bookings with some SkyTeam partners. Members are advised to ask a check-in agent at the airport to add their EuroBonus number manually in order to get all their benefits and earn EuroBonus points automatically. Customers are also able to make a retro claim for missing points on our website after the flight is completed.

For departures from 1 September 2024:

  • EuroBonus Silver members will no longer be Star Alliance Silver members, but instead will be SkyTeam Elite members and enjoy all associated benefits when flying on a SkyTeam airline, such as extra baggage allowance and priority check-in.

  • EuroBonus Gold members will no longer be Star Alliance Gold members, but instead will be SkyTeam Elite Plus members and enjoy all associated benefits when flying on a SkyTeam airline, such as lounge access, fast track and priority boarding.

  • EuroBonus Diamond members will no longer be Star Alliance Gold members, but instead will be SkyTeam Elite Plus members and enjoy all associated benefits when flying on a SkyTeam airline, such as lounge access, fast track and priority boarding.

Note: Due to technical reasons, EuroBonus members will not initially be able to enjoy all Elite or Elite Plus benefits on the following airlines: Middle East Airlines, Aeromexico and Aerolineas Argentinas. We are working hard to enable it as fast we can and will notify you as soon as it is available.

For technical reasons, you won’t be able to use points on all SkyTeam airline partners from 1 September 2024, but we’re working hard to ensure you’ll be able to use EuroBonus points on all SkyTeam airlines as soon as possible. The list of airlines on which you can book award flights is available on the partner award flights page

The list of airlines on which you can earn EuroBonus points is available on our SAS EuroBonus partners pages

For technical reasons, it may not be possible to automatically earn points on all SkyTeam partners on 1 September 2024, but you’ll be able to claim missing points for flights departing from 1 September once the technical solution is in place.

If you make a claim for missing points after 1 September 2024 for flights flown before 1 September 2024 on an SAS or Star Alliance airline, you’ll receive the same number of points as you would have earned before 1 September. The rule of the flown date applies, not the rule at the time you make the claim or receive the points. The only difference is that you’ll receive 1 Level and 1 Bonus point for each Basic point that you would have received prior to 1 September 2024.

For example:

On SAS: you’ll receive the same number of Level and Bonus points as you would have received as Basic points. Silver members will receive +10% Level and Bonus points, and Gold and Diamond members will receive +25% Level and Bonus points.

On Star Alliance: you will receive the same number of Level and Bonus points as you would have received in Basic points.
