Flights to Malta

Fly with SAS to enjoy the Maltese islands in the Mediterranean sea. With around 300 days of sun a year you’re likely to enjoy some sunshine and blue skies over the islands. Explore the capital Valletta on the main island Malta, built and founded by the Knights of St John. For a change of scenery – catch a ferry to the other two Maltese islands, Gozo and Comino.

Island hopping on Malta

Go snorkeling or hiking on Comino, the smallest of the three islands. The island – with its Blue lagoon and crystal-clear water – is the perfect place for scuba diving or snorkeling. Take a day trip from Malta and enjoy this beautiful island. Make a stop a neighboring Gozo and see all this island has to offer.

Walk in the footsteps of the Knights of St. John

Visit one of Europe’s smallest capitals, Valletta on Malta. See the city’s many baroque buildings and sites on foot or hire a bike to cycle around the streets. In 1980 Valletta was recognized as a World heritage site by UNESCO.

Visit the Three cities, Fort St Angelo and Valletta and walk in the footsteps of the Order of the Knights of St. John, also known as the Knights Hospitaller. The knights ruled Malta for about 250 years and amongst other things they introduced the famous eight-pointed Maltese cross.

Malta only became independent in 1964, after years of British rule following the end of the Knights of St. John era in 1798.

Tips for a smooth trip to Malta

Plan ahead and allow for some extra time

Make sure you keep track of your departure time and identify your check in terminal. You can check in online via our website or in the SAS app up to 30 hours before your departure time. It may sound obvious, but it’s always best to arrive a little early rather than being stressed. This is especially true during the summer or other popular vacation times.

Pack smart

Check our baggage rules and restrictions when it comes to baggage. Make sure your ticket type contains the right amount of baggage for what you intend to bring. Please remember that adding bags to our website or SAS App is always cheaper than doing it in person at the airport.

Stay up-to-date

Be sure to regularly check for any updates regarding your flight, such as for example gate changes. Keep an eye on your SAS flight status or download the SAS App for the latest updates.
