Lisbon – built on seven hills

Take a ride on the famous tram no 28 up the hills of Lisbon and feel the atmosphere in one of the city’s markets. Enjoy the view from the miradora Portas do Sol or take a stroll along Rua Nova do Carvalho, the Pink street. It’s easy to take the train to nearby Cascais or Estoril from Lisbon. Don’t miss the UNESCO World heritage site Sintra.

Culture, beaches and food markets in Portugal

Explore Faro, encircled by ancient city walls; go shopping, see the historic sites, take a boat trip to see the sand bar islands in the Ria Formosa nature park or explore a few of the many beautiful beaches along the Algarve coast.

In the Madeira islands the weather is mild all year round. It’s located on the African plate in the Atlantic ocean, 978 km from Lisbon, about 700 km of the African coast and 450 km north of the Canary Islands.

Tips for a smooth trip to Portugal

Plan ahead and allow for some extra time

Make sure you keep track of your departure time and identify your check in terminal. You can check in online via our website or in the SAS app up to 30 hours before your departure time. It may sound obvious, but it’s always best to arrive a little early rather than being stressed. This is especially true during the summer or other popular vacation times.

Pack smart

Check our baggage rules and restrictions when it comes to baggage. Make sure your ticket type contains the right amount of baggage for what you intend to bring. Please remember that adding bags to our website or SAS App is always cheaper than doing it in person at the airport.

Surf and shellfish

Ericeira is about 50km north of Lisbon airport. This little fishing village is famous for its fantastic selection of shellfish, however most people that come here do so to catch the waves on a surfboard. The waves are a bit bigger in the fall and attract experienced surfers, so beginners are better advised to head to Ericeira in the spring. As it's close to Lisbon, a day trip can be a good idea, but if you wish, you can stay longer and explore all the neighboring surfing beaches.
