SAS pressrelease

Winter sport

Responding to the increasing demand from travelers seeking winter adventures in the North, SAS is expanding its services with five new direct routes to Tromsø, Kiruna, Rovaniemi and Scandinavian Mountain Airport Sälen-Trysil.

SAS already serves the Scandinavian Mountains Airport (SCR) from Copenhagen and Aalborg during the winter season and will now open two more routes from Aarhus and London Heathrow.

  • Aarhus-Scandinavian Mountains Airport (Sälen-Trysil)

  • London-Scandinavian Mountains Airport (Sälen-Trysil)

Additionally, three new seasonal routes are being introduced: Copenhagen to Finnish Rovaniemi, Copenhagen to Swedish Kiruna and London to Norwegian Tromsø.

  • Copenhagen-Rovaniemi

  • Copenhagen-Kiruna

  • London-Tromsø.

Spain, Marocko and Thailand

For Scandinavians seeking warmth during the winter season SAS is adding more flights to warm destinations such as Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Agadir.

Bangkok will see a minimum of four weekly flights from Copenhagen throughout the season, increasing to five weekly from late December and daily from late January to early March.

  • Copenhagen-Bangkok

North America

The US program is also expanding, featuring daily flights from Copenhagen to Los Angeles and Boston and double daily to New York (JFK and Newark), with improved schedules to facilitate connectivity at JFK.

In addition, SAS continues its new route Copenhagen-Atlanta with five weekly frequencies during the winter season.

Current travel alerts

As a part of the work to improve punctuality, SAS is making a change to the check-in deadline for short haul flights.

Therefore, with effective date 25 January 2024, the new check-in deadlines for short haul flights are:

  • Domestic - 40 minutes before departure

  • From Scandinavia - 40 minutes before departure

  • From Europe - 45 minutes before departure

The change applies for all channels where check-in functionality is available.

Due to the current situation in the region SAS has decided to pause all flights to Ukraine and Ukraine airspace until further notice.

As a consequence of the closure of Russian airspace, we are also making changes to routings for our flights to China resulting in longer flight times of approx. 2 hours.

The safety of passengers and employees always comes first for SAS. We are monitoring the situation closely and will update new information on this page when available.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and do our best to minimize the effects to you.
